BE OUR SUPERHERO

by Worldwide Orphans

Martin Brouillette

My journey with WWO started in the winter of 2016 in London when Dr. Jane Aronson came for a visit. I thought I didn't have enough knowledge to be interesting to Dr. Jane. Little did I know she could see something inside of me that I didn't know how to reach – power. I took the risk of being vulnerable with Dr. Jane. That risk paid off in a way that brought me from my little art studio in London to the breathtaking mountains of Kenscoff, Haiti and WWO’s Kan Etwal (Camp of Stars).

All the months of reading art therapy books, conducting research, learning from my therapist friends, and being trained by WWO local staff – all of this was leading to the moment when the children arrived. As soon as I saw their smiling faces, I knew I would be changed forever.

It has been almost a year since I said goodbye to the children and bid farewell to WWO, Haiti. I found the power Dr. Jane was referring to in dignity and resilience. I found that power in the people of Haiti.

WWO's annual 'Be Our Superhero' campaign offers our supporters the opportunity to participate in peer to peer fundraising to help raise money for our programs in Bulgaria, Ethiopia, Haiti, the United States, and Vietnam.

With the warm weather fast approaching, now is the perfect time to participate in a 5K, a triathlon, or host a fun outdoor event, all while raising money for Worldwide Orphans and the children we serve.

The WWO staff will help you promote your event through social media postings, by designing an email that can be forwarded to your network of friends and colleagues, and by helping you set up a dedicated fundraising page for your event. If necessary, a representative from WWO will help staff your event. And, if you register for an event such as a 5K or triathlon, WWO will even reimburse your for your registration fee if you meet a specified fundraising goal.
